Photoshoot - Paper Dress Inspired Garments

Illustration for the first outfit in my look inspired by the paper dress. I wanted to make a suit that could be mixed and maxed with many different garments in order to get maximum use out of them.

The polka dot suit jacket was was my take on a ready made fabric that looked like paint splashes. I wanted to have the jacket really shaped in order to excentuate the womanly figure. I did this but putting in more pannels and making the main body quite fitted. I wanted to incoporate the loops that were used in the origional paper dress into the jacket aswell so had them as a feature instead of a collar. When i was at this point in the constructing it didnt look right having them along one side of the jacket as you can see in the illustration to the left so i played around with it and the loop freature ended up being on the back, where you would normally find a hood. The black trousers i constructed were high waisted wide leg suit trousers, that could easily be worn with anything. I had never made trousers before and actually found it a lot easier that i thought it would be!

This is the illustration for the second outfit i constructed. The leggings were created using digi print. I took a sample of the cling film that i had used to cover my mannequin while i was spraying the dress with paint. I really liked the texture and pattern that it created. It was interesting as no spot of colout was the same and the colours looked good when they over lapped. I thought this pattern would look good as a pair of leggings and i was so pleased with the final result as it definitely did! The scarf was inspired by the loops created by the paper in the actual forming of the paper dress! i wanted the scarf to be really long so that it could be wrapped round numerous times to create volume and make a bolder statement. I needed a plain top to finish the look as the scarf and leggings were so strong that the outfit would look over crowded so i designed a plain black basic t-shirt to balance out the look.

I was so pleased with the overall finished look as i put a lot of time and effort into it and overcame a lot of things i had never done before. Digi-print is something i am now interested in and woant to work on new patterns and illustrations that i could incoporate into further garments.
