Inspiration for my Current Collection!

The main inspiration for my collection came form looking into myself! In looked at how i dress and feel on a day to day basis! After realising that i use clothes to give me security and confidence, i started to think about colour and things that i like and inspire me!

I had never really looked at the Northern Lights, i kind of knew they existed but that was about it! I started to look into them a bit more an began to see a similarity to how i see myself! I wear a lot of black - probably every single day of the year more or less!

The main colour behind the northern lights is the black of the night! The beautiful colours that move and change in the sky, being the main feature, relates to the colour of garments that i wear with my black items!

Kind of hard to explain, but hopefully your with me!

They are so spectacular to look at! I think they are propably one of the most beautiful things that isnt man made!

I also took inspiration from Stina Persson! Take a look at her website - her illustrations are amazing!!!

Below are just a few of her illustrations that i love! The use of inks are insane, i would love to be able to create images like these! I think colours relate the the Northern Lights. I am going to experiment with inks and colour and see what i can create!

Illustrations and Experimenting!

This are some illustrations that i have done, playing around with inks, water and fine liner. They were inspired by Stina Persson, whose work you can see in the post above!

The illustration aboveis my favourite out of the two illustrations because its less fussy than the
first one and i feel represents me more!

The black images have been created by inverting the colour of some of my illustrations! It was so simple to do and yet created such a good effect! The bright colours are so bold against the black, they represent the Northern Lights quite well, due the the colour contrasts. I think it would look sooo good if the one above especially was printed onto a black t-shirt!

Little Miss Madison Interview!

I was Interviewed by a good friend of mine today, Tamsin Dace, to feature on her blog, she asked me questions about being an up and coming fashion designer!

My Concept!

After spending soooo long trying to come up with a concept for my brand, exploring what exactly it is that i like and dont like, and what i want or think it should be! I decided one day to actually sit down and take a look at myself - What i wear, How i feel and Who i am!

I realised from this analysis of myself, that i did actually have a concept all along, i just didnt realise it!

So my concept is....

Designing garments that offer security, comfort and confidence! Something that every girl, woman or lady wants when wearing clothes.

I always begin the day in the same way - wearing underwear, a black strap top and tights in the winter or just a strap top over my underwear in the summer! This acts as my security layer, i can wear anything i want on top, depending on how i feel that particular day! I also never ever wear my hair up, EVER! i hate having it off my face and have realised that this again is another type of security thing! My long hair acts as a barrier, when entering a new place or if im not feeling to confident about something then i hide behind it! not literally obviously because that would be weird! but i have it hanging down over my shoulders and chest. It makes me feel better! I never really wear anything overly outragous or patterened either and my favourite colours are black, grey, white and cream! These are my 'security' colours as such as i feel confident when wearing them!

These weird habits that i have make me who i am and give me the base for my confidence, which is where the inspiration for my concept came from!
